Like it or not, for better or worse, Kansas City had an extremely effective mafia. We are considering a book Black Hand Strawman: The History of Organized Crime in Kansas City which is intended to be a companion to the documentary film of the same name. Whether the book "Black Hand Strawman" is ever written or published is unknown as of this writing. The film's director prefers making films to writing books. He apologizes for the disappointment.
